One of the top prospects in the Cardinals organization has played his final game in Peoria for the time being.
Pitcher Tink Hence, the No. 2 overall prospect and the No. 1 pitching prospect in the St. Louis organization according to MLB Pipeline, has been promoted to Double-A Springfield per an announcement from the Chiefs.
The right-hander from Arkansas enjoyed a terrific start to the season with Peoria. The 20-year-old started 11 games for the Chiefs in 2023, posting a 2.81 ERA across 41,2 innings while striking out 46.
As Hence departs Peoria for Springfield, he’s also in line to make a stop in Seattle next week. Hence will represent the Cardinals organization in the 2023 Futures Game at MLB All-Stark Weekend on Saturday, July 8 along with fellow former Peoria Chief Victor Scott II.
